Jim Medley is a native of Colorado Springs who met his wife, Carolyn, while attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Married for 45 years, they have 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters. Jim started his career with Hewlett Packard here in Colorado Springs in accounting and finance and left after 15 years when he was recruited to be business unit manager of a publishing unit with Simon & Schuster in New Jersey. After 10 years in the east and missing Colorado, the family returned to Colorado Springs and Peregrine in 1998 when Carolyn had the opportunity to open the Borders Books and Music store in Chapel Hills Mall as General Manager. Jim joined Velcon Filters, now a division of Parker Hannifin Corp., and retired in 2014 after 15 years, as Global Division Human Resource Manager. Carolyn returned to her first love, teaching, with District 20 in 2000 and also retired in 2014. Active in the community throughout their lives, Carolyn now servers on the board of Therapeutic Recreation Community Partners and is a member of the Peregrine Block Captain Forum while Jim has been a past member of the board of the Colorado Springs Dance Theater, served on multiple United Way compliance committees and now enjoys volunteering with the Friends of Peregrine Parks and Open Spaces and the Rocky Mountain Field Institute working to protect and maintain the breathtakingly beautiful community we call home.
